Is The Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle Worth Buying?
When you first look at the Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle, it’s hard not to be impressed. To say it’s large is a bit of an understatement – when this toy is fully opened out it spans a full 42” (over 3 feet!). Once opened out, the castle is also fully reconfigurable, so each of the walls can be positioned as you like, changing the overall shape of the castle.
The large and imposing design works perfectly for the castle theme, and really creates a lot of atmosphere for kids to enjoy as they play. Whether they’re fans of Merlin or Brave, they’re sure to be inspired and have endless fun imagining the world of castles and knights.
Not only is the castle large, but to keep kids entertained it comes with loads of pieces and accessories. There are three knights included, as well as a canon, two catapults swords, shields and other weapons plus lots more. With so many little bits, kids will love this set, which gives them all they need to play out castle adventures.
The entertainment doesn’t end with the pieces though, and the real selling point of this toy is the numerous sound effects that play automatically in response to various toys getting close. For example, if you buy the dragon toy that complements this set, the castle will issue a warning about the approaching dragon every time the toy gets close. It also plays sounds of battling soldiers and has lots of bright lights that are sure to add immensely to the entertainment value.
In addition to all this, there is also a DVD included that brings the world of the castle to life for young kids. But the real fun is with the toy itself, and the many moving parts, secret compartments, figures, accessories and sound effects.
There isn’t really anything to criticize about this toy. All you can say is that there’s a chance some of the smaller accessories might get lost during play. And if you’re on a tight budget, this toy might be a bit expensive – but it’s absolutely worth the price charged, there’s no doubt about that.
A final plus point is that the castle feels durable, so it should outlast your own kids and be suitable for future generations too. This is a fantastic toy, sure to keep young ones entertained for hours and hours. If it doesn’t become a firm favorite, it’d be a real surprise.
What Some Customers Have Commented
My five year old received this castle today and he absolutely loves it. It is massive but folds up to a more reasonable size. I love the fact that it can be unfolded and configured in different ways – it has a more 3-D sort of feel than most Imgainext sets that just have a front and a back. This can be set up with more of a courtyard feel with sides all around.
There are TONS of fun actions which can be activated by the figures. The castle transforms, lights and sounds are activated, and all sorts of other actions are triggered. Coolest of all, playing with certain accessories will cause the castle to make noises and react! My son loves this aspect and it adds a huge sense of realism to the play experience.
The castle comes with a lot of accessories (my son especially liked the treasure chest that really opens) and there are also a large variety of accessory sets available for purchase separately.
The castle is elaborate with a lot of different rooms and things for the figures to do. I’d say that with this castle, Fisher Price has come very close to a “dollhouse for boys” that will have a lot of play value.
A Book A Day,
I’m always surprised by how far we’ve come in terms of toys for children that provide endless entertainment while encouraging learning, for an economical price point. The imaginext eagle talon castle falls in this category since it has so many secret compartments, walls, windows, a drawbridge, cannons, and people to explore. What’s even more entertaining is that you can fit the people and weapons into various areas of the castle and when you trigger them, it will activate lights and sounds of men in battle. I’d say that overall the castle looks like a plastic castle, but overall it’s pretty durable. The only attribute that is out of place is the sticker in the front of the castle that depicts an Ogre and a Dragon that look rather Pokemon-ish that inspires one to look for additional accessories. Apparently there is a separately sold Ogre, Dragon, and catapult that are available which would be great for older children, especially since one of the sounds is “Dragon, Look out!” The younger 3-5 ages likely wouldn’t need the additional components, but I think the 6-8 year olds would have fun with the full battle. Last, but not least, it comes with a cute dvd about what is apparently a popular knight and a dragon that’s popular with kids with other Fisher Price toys.
