Is The VTech Alphabet Activity Cube Worth Buying?

The VTech Alphabet Activity Cube is a pretty big toy, and that’s the first thing you’ll notice about it when you give it to your child. An infant or toddler will find it to be a fairly big object to play with. This should help it to hold their attention more easily.

The toy is also very nicely designed. It’s got big chunky features that really pop out. It’s also very colorful. All the colors and big features that can be grabbed and played with make it a lot of fun for young kids.

Of course, the main selling point of this toy is its educational qualities, so let’s take a bit of a look at those. The cube is broken down into several main components. There are the faces, two of which are electronic and three of which are mechanical in nature. Then there’re the blocks.

The electronic faces feature piano keys and a number pad. The keys play corresponding notes, allowing your child to start getting a basic grasp of music. The keys are large and easy to press, so they can have a lot of fun messing around with those.

The number pad helps your child to learn the names of numbers. Pressing the number buttons makes a voice read out the number’s name. This encourages them to memorize the basics, and makes it much more entertaining that having to count from 1 to 9 repeatedly.

The mechanical aspects include a mirror, a peg maze, holes to place things in and take them out again, sliders, storage space and the alphabet blocks. The 13 blocks have all 26 letters of the alphabet on them, and placing them into special holes on the toy makes it read out the name of the letters. Unfortunately, some toys come with fault components that make it read out the wrong letter – these can be exchanged for a new unit. Some people also feel that the voice isn’t clear enough when it reads out the names. However, this is a complaint from a small minority.

Overall, this is a feature rich toy that’ll keep kids entertained for a long time and help them to start learning as they play. The current retail price is $40, which may seem like quite a lot of money, but you get a lot for your dollars. A neat toy worth buying.
